Alessandra,

You may approach Joe Duffy at RTE Radio 1 who exposes people and businesses like this. You can contact him at joe@rte.ie. He could air your problem on the radio.

You can listen to some of the previous live podcasts on the RTE Radio 1 website.

Hi Liz, thanks for your support. I was going to complain to the pub owner, but I have since then found out that he IS the manager. It makes it even more shocking, that he should treat his customers this way.

Maybe a letter to the Licensed Vintners Association or to some radios? What do you think? Anyone got any advice?

It's time people learned to behave properly with their customers, instead of expecting we be grateful to them, for letting us in.

That's shocking Allesendra. never had an experience like that at O'Shea's/Harbour Knights. The fact that it was the manager is very worrying, who can you complain too??

Hi all - had a negative experience in a local pub the other night and was wondering if any in the estate have had the same. Me and two friends went to Harbour Knights on Friday night. One of my friends noticed a sign on the door, saying that guests are welcome to order food in. She asked bar staff, who confirmed and gave us the number of a local take-away. As soon as the take-away was delivered at the door, my friend was verbally abused by the pub manager. He stated it was not allowed to have food in the pub and when we objected that we had been advised from bar staff, he just got ruder and more aggressive. In the end, we had to go eat outside in the smokers' patio. On any other occasion we'd have simply left, but we were there to see a friend play live and despite the rude treatment, we even stayed for one more round of drinks. The manager was at the bar and as I was waiting for my change, he sniggered at me. I pointed out that he was being very rude and he started again on his aggressive behaviour. Bar staff sniggered too. And after an hour I realised why: she had given my change in a bundle, carefully keeping a tenner for herself. I had heard that it can be common practice for bar staff in pubs to give the wrong change, hoping people won't check. I now know it's true. I would be interested in knowing from other residents if they had similar negative experiences in Harbour Knights, or if it was just an unlucky night. In the first case, I think among local residents we should warn each other of places that do not deserve our custom. Especially at a time when pubs are not doing well economically and are advertising on the radio about their friendly atmosphere, this unmannered treatment of paying guests is just not to be tolerted. Thanks and look forward to hearing your views. Alessandra.

hi, Charlie from the residents association here, I am living in no 41 across from you if you want to pop over some evening to chat about it. Issues like this have come up from time to time and we can definatly offer advice on it. You should check your deeds or with your landlord about the space but if it is a "free space" then you are entitled to use it to park in.

hi ive just moved into the estate,i have a problem with my car park space.there are two spaces together, one is mine and the other is another neighbours.the neighbour has a shed on his car space and is using my space to park his "two" cars on.when i confronted him about it, he said because the space wasn't directly at the side of my house that anyone can use it.after confronting other neighbours in the estate they seem to think its not right aswell.im not lookin to make enemies in the estate im just lookin a safe place to park my car a space that is rightly reserved for my house.so if anyone knows anything about this i'd appreciate your opinion.cheers! shay at 47 bremore.
