Upgrading your heating control system
Victor Dunne (Website: www.irishbuildingexhibition.com and www.sustainablebuildingshow.com) has kindly provided the following information on his experience upgrading the heating control system in his house.
“I wanted to make use of the SEI grant scheme which gives €500 towards the cost of upgrading the heating control system in my house.
This is a great way of reducing the amount of money we all have to spend on gas every winter so I was able to find a company to install a heating control system for just €850 of which I get €500 back from the government.
Within two winters I can easily recoup the money I spent by the savings I get on my gas bill.
Below is the SEI link to all the info everybody will need.

I used a company called Feltrim Construction in Swords run by a lovely man called Niall Kelly, he will come out to your home and run through everything involved for free in the hope that you will decide to use his services.
He was half the price of some of the companies I contacted and did a very professional and tidy job.
Another big advantage I found it that his plumber lives over by the big green area by the playground so he is only a few minutes away if any issues arise.”

Hi,
I have also installed the heating controls in my house and I am very pleased with the results. You can adjust the heating in the house from your bedroom. The installation is wireless and they don’t have to butcher your house to install the system. I used a crowd called Mountain Lodge Heating and Plumbing, if you need a competitive price. Stephen Shanley will drop in for an assessment, explanation as to how the system works and a quote.
Stephen was also very good in advising how to use the website for the government grant.
The biggest advantage is the reduction in energy bills as we use only energy when and where we need it.
